MRR-E configuration guide

Thanks for chosen Blue Jay Technology products MICO-RACEA wireless temperature monitor system, it designed as a flexible networking equipment, user can easy build wireless monitor network, multi-channel auto frequency-hopping technology to avoid interference from other wireless devices, especially suit for variety of commercial and industrial environments.
Blue Jay Technology also provide free Cloud Server for every client test.
Cloud server provide following function:
1. MRS sensor data display & record;
2. Remote change MRS upload interval & alarm trigger;
3. Every MRS sensor max 10000 lists record data.
Notes: Blue Jay provide free account for max 10 MRS sensor, 1 MRR receiver connect, 6 month validity after order.

How to use Blue Jay Cloud Server

This guide is for every client know how to use MICO-RACE, and run test software [Microtemp Desktop]on your PC.
We will use following software:
1. Ethernet port configuration software TCP232-T24 V5.1.0.1 [Download
2. MTD-ver1.0 for temp data display [Download
Now please follow the guide steps to use the MICO-RACE:


Part I. Use [TCP232-T24] for Ethernet Port configuration in MRR-E

Step 1: Connect the MRR-E to the Ethernet Router and power ON, please make sure your PC in same network.
Step 2: Run [USR-TCP232-T24 V5.1.0.1.exe] in your PC
you will see the software interface, press button [Search in LAN], software will auto scan your network to find MRR-E device, you will see it shown in right box:

Step 3: Double click the searched device can read the configuration parameters in left chart:
Step 4: Please change the following configuration:
Module IP: Assign the MRR-E device IP to any one you like in your sub-network, do not duplicate existing equipment, otherwise there will be a network error.
Default Gateway: Change Gateway IP that matched with your network setting.
Destination IP: Change the IP that direction to your PC that run [Microtemp Desktop.exe]If you plan connect to Blue Jay Cloud Server. please config this IP is (
Destination Port: Default is 16254, if change to other port, that in [Microtemp Desktop.exe] need config "TCP terminal" same with this number.
If you plan connect to Blue Jay Cloud Server, Please find your own Server Port and account info in products package, or contact your sale manager This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

NotesPlease do not change other parameter in Ethernet Port, or MRR-E may unable to work.
Step5: Press button [Set selected item via LAN] to end the Set


Part II. Run [Microtemp Desktop] to show temperature data from MRS in your PC

Step 1: Port scan configuration

Choose [Comm Config] button, software will automatic detect LAN IP of your PC and show in the dialog window, please make sure the IP same as preset "Destination IP", confirm the TCP terminal is same as MRR-E Ethernet port presetting (default is 16254).

Step 2: Create the MRS sensor display window

Press button [Add MRS], In MRS sensor information box enter:
Sensor_ID: 8 digital in HEX, you can find it on the MRS body.
MRS Type: Select correct MRS type, if you do not clear, please contact our sales team..

After setting press button [OK] for confirm and exit; then redo the step 2 until all the MRS window had created in software.

Step 3: Press button [Run] for start scan TCP/IP port, then you can see the MRS window display temperature data.

Click [RUN] in toolbar, then switch to "Raw_data" page, you should see a upload command, it contain MRR ID inside, mean connection success. Otherwise, the connection is unsuccessful.

Step 4: Read & Change MRS parameter

In "Curve" page, click each MRS line, you can see record curve drawn by latest 10 record point. also you can see the "Basic Config" table in the right part of screen. detail of each parameter please refer to the " Mico Race Data Format_1.6"
Notes: Do not configure advanced parameters without Blue Jay technical support, or MRS sensor will not work!!

in example show setting of MRS (000075B6):
Choose any parameter you want to know in 000075B6, press Read, you can see the data in "value" column; Double-click column can input the setting value, then press Set. 
In configuration operation, after set one MRS, you can switch to the "Raw_Data" screen to see detail data flow, that can easy help test engineer understand MICO-RACE protocol.


Other function:
1. Save MRS list, click [Save] on tool bar, you can save the MRS list in software. Next time you can press [Open] to load the MRS list and continue work.
2. Cancel MRS in your list, select the MRS you want to delete. (need switch to "Curve" page), Click Cancel MRS on the toolbar.
3. MRS record value, Software will record the latest 100 data in "History" page for each listed MRS, you can press [Export] on toolbar to save the record data in Excel file.

How to use Blue Jay Cloud Server

Blue Jay Technology provide Cloud Server for test, Cloud Server provide following function:
1. MRS sensor data display & record;
2. Remote change MRS upload interval & alarm trigger;
3. Every MRS sensor max 10000 lists record data.
Every client purchase MICO-RACE will have a independent test account and TCP port. only for destination the MRR-E or MRR-M to Cloud Server:

Destination Port: 30XXX (It can be find in products package or contact your sales manager)

Then open your Web Browser
Open the site: MICO-RACE cloud

Enter user Name and Password (default password is 000000, please change the password in your first access)

Description of main screen:
In Main screen user can check all the temperature/humidity data detect from MRS sensors, there have a warning bar to display how many MRS working abnormal.
If MRS trigs upper / lower limit alarm, the data will display in red or green color.
Also free to edit some MRS in one group, that easy for large quantities of MRS display

Click one MRS display window for enter MRS detail record

Description of MRS detail info screen:
Cloud Server will auto display recent 10 lists record data, and drawing a record curve. If want check more record data, select “Start Time” and “End Time” in [History Data] box, press button [Query] for display all record data during the select time period.
Press button [Export to xls] or [Export to txt] can download the record data in select time period.
Press button [Rename] that user can free to change the MRS name as prefer, and in Main screen MRS will show the changed name. (MRS default name is sensor ID)

Description of MRS configuration screen
MICO-RACE system provides data upper / lower limit alarm function. That MRS detect temp or humidity raise or decline to the preset trig value, will send alarm info immediately, Blue Jay Cloud Server can display and record this info.
User can free to configuration alarm value as application or project needs. Also can free to change the MRS auto upload data interval, the minimum interval is 1min.
Notes: Blue Jay Tech Team suggests time interval is 5min/10 min/20min in normal environment monitor, because change of temperature and humidity in environment is a slow process. Notes: Blue Jay Cloud Server designed has alarm push via SMS and E-mail, but in test account the function is closed, only for ODM clients and agents’ clients.

How to purchase an excellent electrical measurement device?

Good morning! Today I’d like to talk about some tips of how to purchase electrical measurement devices, and I hope this is useful for you. Electrical measurement device is a concept of general word. As we know, Multi-meter, installation type instruments belong to electrical measurement devices. Here, we mainly discuss how to choose installation type digital meters.
Well, digital meters, according to the function, can divide as follows: Voltage meter, Current meter, Active (Reactive) power meter, Frequency meter, Power Factor meter etc, including the all-in-one function type called intelligent multi-meter. This part mainly discusses some common sense.

Instrument accuracy
Electrical measurement devices include 7 classics: 0.1; 0.2; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.5; 5.0
The level refers to error percentage of instrument when it come full range.
For example, the accuracy of 193I-9X4 three-phase current meter manufactured by Blue Jay is 0.5 with input current of 5A. That is to say, when this current meter measures full range current of 5A, the maximum of error percentage won’t be 0.5
Another way to discuss device accuracy is called uncertainty level. We’ll talk it next time.

Digital meter and analog meter
Digital meter is known for its precise reading and high accuracy.
The strengths of the analog meter, according to the motion of pointer, we can know the change trend and scope.

Power supply
Generally talking, power supply can divide three types, transformer power supply, switch power supply, and the battery.
Transformer power supply:

Other frequency meters
What we talked above is all about meters of frequency 50 Hz.

MRR-M configuration guide

MRR-M is special designed for MICO-RACE system; integrate MRR-R and GPRS router inside together in one device, provide none-wiring usage. It can works with 12V rechargeable battery that easy built Mobile type MICO-RACE data transmitter. The GPRS router support 850/900/1800/1900Mhz GSM network (Default work in 900/1800Mhz).
1. Antenna have different sharp, depends one client requirement, all use standard SMA port, if antenna damaged or dissatisfied with signal performance, users can change higher gain antenna with same specification and port.
2. Aux power support standard 12V AC-DC adapter or battery, if power less than 6V MRR-M may work abnormal.
MRR-M communication port is RS232, you can use any type of RS232 adapter to connect host PC, Blue Jay provide DT-500X type RS232 to USB adapter, click here to know more

Every MRR-M was pre-configuration to send data to Blue Jay Cloud Server, if you want send data to other IP, please follow this guide:
Step 1: Set PID switch for GSM configuration
Change the PID switch 5.6 ON, as photo shown; and connect RS232 port to your host PC.

Step 2: Open DTU-RTU tool.exe (You can choose 64/32bit for PC Windows OS)
Software provides English display, press button as indicate change to English.
1. Change Comport to right port no. (In demo is COM5).
2. Choose Baud Rate to “9600”.
3. Leave other buttons do not change or set, then press [Open COM] button.
4. Make sure SIM card in holder and powered on MRR-M.
The left screen window show welcome info as follow, mean GPRS router is connect to PC and prepare configuration.

Notes: MRR-M default set to automatic connect remote server, please do all the configuration in 30sec, that parameter setting will invalid after screen window show "CONNECTED". That only needs to repower the MRR-M.

Step 3: Set APN (Access Point Name) info
Please contact your local mobile network service providers for confirm the APN account and password, in demo use china mobile.
After enter right APN info, press button [Set] to confirm setting, user can press button [Get] to check presetting in left screen window.

Step 4: Set destination IP to remote server
MRR-M support URL or IP setting, send data to max 6 different remote IP (named from A to F).

In demo destination IP is BLUE JAY cloud server IP (, Blue Jay Technology provide 6 month free testing account for every client that purchase MRR-E and MRR-M, you can find your own Server Port and account info in products package, or contact your sale manager. After enter right Server info, press button [Set] to confirm setting, user can press button [Get] to check presetting in left screen window.

After set the GPRS configuration, powered off the MRR-M, disconnect RS232 adapter and recovery PID switch 1.4 ON, as following photo, then repower the MRR-M it will send data to the destination IP.

Panel Mount Electricity Meters:

These types of Electricity Meters fit into a hole cut into a panel or enclosure. Their size is normally expressed as either a DIN96 or DIN72 being the cut out hole size 96mmx96mm or 72mmx72mm square respectively. Electrically they are available in single phase, three phase, basic kWh only or as Multi-function instruments (these options are further explained below). DIN Rail Mount Electricity Meters:

These types of Electricity Meters fit inside a panel or enclosure on Top Hat or DIN Rail. Electrically they are available in single phase, three phase, basic kWh only or as Multi-function instruments. DIN Rail Electricity Meters are usually supplied with any pulse or communications options when the meter is bought and cannot generally be added to at a later date.

Tariff / Billing Meters:

Blue Jay 194 series Multifunction Power Meter can add this function, 194Y and 194Q series meter provide 12 segment 4 tariff logger billing, can be used by landlords, caravan park or marina owners to bill their clients and tenants for energy used.

Electricity Meter Options

Pulse Output

A pulse output is a relay contact (more often that not an electronic relay) inside the meter that closes momentarily when the meter advances it energy register. By connecting this up to either a BMS (building Management System) or an Energy management system the remote equipment can count the pulses and in turn display the same reading as the meter remotely. Pulse connected systems do have their problems. Firstly no pulses can equal no consumption seen in the remote system but this may be normal for a feeder that does not normally consume that much energy, however there may be a fault with wiring or component in the system that goes unnoticed.


Unlike pulses with a more intelligent system where a dedicated communication protocol is used, the meter is asked by the remote system for the readings out of its internal registers. This means that if the meter fails to respond then an alarm can be raised straight away. Not only that but any register/ value in the meter can be read remotely such as current, voltage, power factor, frequency, instantaneous power as well as the energy register displays. The most common protocol in use would be MODBUS however there are others such as M-BUS and BACNET.

Analogues Outputs and Alarms

Some Electricity Meters have analogue outputs which can be programmed to give a 4-20mA or similar in sympathy with the amount of instantaneous power being consumed. Other Electricity Meters have alarm outputs which can be programmed to signal various conditions.
