The HFCT partial discharge sensor is designed for high-voltage cables. Based on High-Frequency Current Transformer (HFCT) technology and Rogowski coil principles, it uses a non-intrusive clamp-on structure to capture PD pulse current signals from cable grounding leads. Available in wireless and wired versions, it offers a 1-5000 pC detection range with 1 pC sensitivity, featuring real-time monitoring, threshold alarming, and scalable networking.
The wireless version has a built-in high-capacity lithium battery (lifespan > 3 years) and uses LoRa (470-510MHz) for wireless transmission over > 300 meters. The wired version is powered by DC12-24V and uses a shielded RS485 twisted pair with MODBUS RTU (9600bps) for data exchange. Both come with a 30mm open HFCT sensor that clips onto the cable ground wire and connects to the host via a coaxial cable. Users can choose based on on-site power and transmission needs for efficient, accurate cable partial discharge monitoring.

Working principle
Installation location
An HFCT sensor clamped around the grounding conductor captures these pulses and converts them into voltage signals via a high-bandwidth ferrite core. After amplification and filtering, the processed signals are analyzed to determine the type and severity of PD activity.
Specification
PD sensor supports two power supply options:
Wired Version:
-. PD sensor is powered by the HMI through a 24VDC power cable.
-. Data is transmitted to the HMI via RS485 communication.
Wireless Version:
-. PD sensor is powered by internal battery.
-. Data is transmitted via LoRa network to a wireless receiver.
-. The wireless receiver is powered by the HMI through a 12VDC power cable and forwards the received data to the HMI via RS485 communication.
